LEKI CROSS TRAIL FX SUPERLITE adjustable folding poles review

A fast-hiking and trail-running hybrid pair with two current size/color plans: 100–120 cm and 110–130 cm. Both fold to a listed 42 cm and use an external lever; LEKI specifies different per-pole weights and strap sizes by plan.

A useful fit for

A source-supported hybrid to shortlist when fast hiking is part of the intended use, the exact 100–120 or 110–130 cm plan fits a measured setting, and four-section folding, a 42 cm pack figure and an external lever are wanted together.

The main tradeoff

This is not a long-reach or conventional telescoping trekking pole. Its largest listed setting is 130 cm, the two size plans use different strap ranges, and LEKI specifies a Trail Running Basket rather than trekking or snow baskets. The Cross Shark mesh hand-frame style needs a personal fit check; manufacturer weight figures are not independent measurements.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Which CROSS TRAIL FX SUPERLITE size reaches a 130 cm setting?

The white-envy-black SKU 65426801 is listed at 110–130 cm; the compact white-ferra-black SKU 65426851 stops at 120 cm. LEKI lists a 42 cm pack size for the family, but check the selected SKU, your measured fit and its M–L–XL versus S–M–L strap range before ordering.

Is the grip specifically identified as EVA foam?

Yes. LEKI's Cross Shark product feature calls the grip lightweight EVA foam. That confirms the manufacturer's material description, not personal comfort; the mesh frame strap wraps around the hand and has a size range tied to the chosen pole plan.

Do the supplied baskets meet a snow-basket requirement?

No snow basket is confirmed. The specification table lists a Trail Running Basket and a carbide Trail Running Tip; it does not identify a snow basket in either size/color plan. If snow flotation is essential, select a model whose exact package explicitly lists snow baskets.

This is a source-based assessment of LEKI USA's current product page and variant feed, not a hands-on test. The Cross Trail line is included here only because LEKI describes this exact hybrid for trail running and hiking at pace.

A fast-hiking hybrid, not a universal trekking pole

LEKI positions the CROSS TRAIL FX SUPERLITE between its trail-running and trekking poles: the product copy describes a pole for running and days of hiking at pace, while the U.S. collection calls the line a hybrid. That is enough to put this model in a carefully bounded hiking comparison, but not to assume it suits every backpacking style. Its longest published setting is 130 cm, it ships with a Trail Running Basket and Trail Running Tip, and its Cross Trigger Shark grip uses a mesh hand-frame strap. Those are meaningful design choices for quick movement, not neutral details that should disappear behind a generic “lightweight pole” label.

The family has two real size/color plans. The white-ferra-black SKU 65426851 adjusts from 100 to 120 cm; the white-envy-black SKU 65426801 adjusts from 110 to 130 cm. LEKI's table assigns them 180 g and 186 g per pole respectively, lists a 42 cm pack size, and gives different mesh-strap ranges. If your measured maximum setting is above 120 cm, the compact plan does not reach it. If the chosen 100–120 cm range fits, the compact option is the lower listed per-pole weight, but comfort and leverage still depend on how the length works with your body and terrain.

Folding and length adjustment are different mechanisms

These poles use four folding sections and LEKI's CLD (Core Locking Device) to assemble the shaft. Length is adjusted separately with a Speed Lock 2 Plus external lever. This combination can be useful when a short pack dimension and in-use adjustment are both priorities, but “folding” does not mean fixed-length, and “external lever” does not mean telescoping. The Finder therefore treats these as folding, adjustable, lever-lock poles. They do not match its folding-button-or-corded-joint lock option: the product page documents an external lever for adjusting length, while CLD describes the folding system.

The product specification lists 42 cm packed for the family. Treat that as a manufacturer catalog dimension, not a measurement of your pack's opening or interior clearance. It also does not show whether the bundle will fit beside the rest of your gear. Before relying on a tight storage limit, compare the actual item with the measured usable space you have.

Grip, strap, basket and tip need separate checks

LEKI names the grip Cross Trigger Shark and describes lightweight EVA foam. The manufacturer presents it as a hybrid between trekking-grip ergonomics and the Trail Shark connection; that description is not evidence of comfort for any particular hand. Its oversized Shark Frame Strap Mesh wraps the hand. The size plan matters here: LEKI lists M–L–XL with the 110–130 cm SKU and S–M–L with the 100–120 cm SKU. Confirm the exact strap range and whether the hand-frame style suits your preferred use before choosing a pair.

Do not read “hybrid” as a promise of a four-season package. LEKI lists a Trail Running Basket and carbide Trail Running Tip, not a trekking basket or snow basket. A snow-basket accessory that might fit the shaft would be a separate purchase unless the exact offer says otherwise. The product specification does not document an integrated shock absorber, either. If snow flotation or impact suspension is essential, this is not a supported match in this library.

Where it sits beside other adjustable folding poles

For a higher setting, compare LEKI's SKYSOLO FX CARBON: its standard plan reaches 140 cm and folds to a listed 42 cm, but it has a Verticon grip whose material is not classified as EVA, cork or rubber, and its basket package wording is less conclusive. The Cross Trail tops out at 130 cm but has an explicitly described EVA grip and a named trail-running basket. These models solve overlapping pack-and-adjustment tasks with different reach, hand interfaces and basket evidence; neither should be selected by the shared “folding” label alone.

The model also differs from a conventional telescoping pole such as the aluminum SKYSOLO, whose listed 110–145 cm range reaches farther but has a 70 cm pack dimension. Whether a 42 cm foldable bundle is worthwhile depends on actual storage needs and your working setting, not on a claim that a shorter pole is inherently better.

What to verify before ordering

Use the full SKU and finish in any seller listing. SKU 65426851 is white-ferra-black, 100–120 cm, 180 g per pole, with an S–M–L strap range. SKU 65426801 is white-envy-black, 110–130 cm, 186 g per pole, with M–L–XL straps. The product table labels the unit a pair. LEKI's general prose rounds the weight to “7 oz,” while the specifications give those size-specific values; the public product feed also carries a separate shipping-weight field with no stated product-weight basis. This assessment relies on the specification table, not the unexplained feed number, and does not treat a manufacturer figure as an independent scale measurement.

Before choosing a size, check your intended pole setting on level ground and on the grades you usually walk. Confirm that the model's range, strap option, fold sequence and basket/tip package are the ones you need. Check the maker's instructions for assembly, lever tension, inspection and care. No price, current inventory, comparative durability, swing weight or user comfort is established here.

Who should shortlist it—and who should pause

Shortlist the standard or compact Cross Trail only if your use includes fast hiking, you want both a folding shaft and a separate external-lever adjustment, and one of the published ranges fits. The 110–130 cm version is the option for a required 130 cm setting; the 100–120 cm version is shorter and lighter by LEKI's table. Its explicit EVA grip and 42 cm listed pack dimension are useful facts for screening, not guarantees of fit.

Pause if you need a 135 cm or higher setting, a telescoping shaft, fixed working length, confirmed snow baskets, an integrated shock system, or a grip without a hand-wrapping frame strap. For a hiking trip where snow-basket contents are non-negotiable, choose a reviewed configuration with that package documented. The manufacturer page supports a narrow hiking use case; it does not convert a trail-running crossover into a fit for every trekking routine.
