A useful fit for

As a catalog reference, article 174 23 71-10 documents a telescoping 90–120 cm plan with a 57 cm listed packed dimension and an external Powerlock Hybrid lever. It is not a verified retail offer.

The main tradeoff

The article's direct U.S. retail identity and package are not established. Its article number and Powerlock Hybrid mechanism differ from the separate current U.S. Explorer Zero Compact K1742363-10-Tele / Powerlock 3.0; the 2027 maximum setting is 120 cm.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How does 2027 article 174 23 71-10 differ from the current U.S. Explorer Zero Compact page?

The 2027 Trekbook article has Powerlock Hybrid and article number 174 23 71-10; the current U.S. product page is K1742363-10-Tele / article 174 23 63-10 with Powerlock 3.0. Their shared 90–120 cm range and 57 cm pack listing do not make them the same retail configuration.

Does the catalog compact article reach a 125 cm setting?

No. Its listed range stops at 120 cm. The catalog configuration remains a finder comparison candidate when the other conditions fit, but that result does not confirm a retail offer; verify article 174 23 71-10 and the exact seller package before relying on it.

Can the Trek Pro 280 Foam grip be called EVA for the finder?

Not on this evidence. The 2027 article says Foam but does not specify EVA; material remains unclassified rather than being copied from a different Explorer Zero Compact article.

A compact name tied to a separate 2027 article

Komperdell's 2027 Trekbook assigns Explorer Zero Compact article number 174 23 71-10. The exact current U.S. Explorer Zero Compact page is a different product number, K1742363-10-Tele / article 174 23 63-10, and it names Powerlock 3.0. The newer catalog article names Powerlock Hybrid. The reach and pack dimensions are the same in the two documents, and the listed weights differ by only one gram, but those similarities do not bridge the article number or lock-generation change.

The evidence supports an individually identified catalog article, not a confirmed U.S. retail offer. The finder may compare its documented reach and pack length with a visitor's requirements, but the match is not an offer verification. A seller could use the same family name for the older product; checking only the word “Compact” would not establish which mechanism or article the box contains.

Shorter storage comes with a 120 cm ceiling

The 2027 article is listed for a 90–120 cm setting range and a 57 cm collapsed length. Those dimensions make it the shorter of the two 2027 Explorer Zero articles: standard 174 23 70-10 reaches 140 cm and is 65 cm packed. In the Trekbook figures, choosing the Compact trades 20 cm of maximum reach for 8 cm less listed pack length. Compact's 222 g versus standard's 237 g is also a catalog comparison only; no weight basis is stated for either.

If a measured working setting must be 125 cm, the compact reference does not reach it. If the actual requirement is 120 cm or less and the storage cap is 60 cm, the 57 cm number is inside that nominal pole-length limit, but it says nothing about a case opening or space needed to remove the pole. Treat a maximum-length number and a collapsed-length number as separate constraints, and check both against how the pole will really be stored.

Hybrid adjustment and generic foam are the relevant details

The 2027 product block specifies three sections of 7075-T6 aluminum at 18/16/14 mm, Powerlock Hybrid, a Comfort Padded strap and a Trek Pro 280 Foam grip. The Trekbook's mechanism explanation describes Powerlock Hybrid as a telescoping locking lever, which supports an external-lever and telescoping plan. It does not supply an independent test of clamp force, long-term slip or service life.

“Foam” is not enough to assign the finder's narrower EVA category. The 2026 U.S. Compact page itself contains inconsistent grip copy—its model description says foam while one feature sentence says cork—and its article is 174 23 63-10, not 174 23 71-10. Neither that ambiguity nor a different model's material classification can be copied into this 2027 record. The 2027 source also lists a Mini UL Vario basket and Flex carbide tip; it does not say a dedicated snow basket is in the exact package, or whether a current offer includes a bag or a pair.

What changed from the U.S. page

The older exact U.S. page and matching 2026 article list K1742363-10-Tele / 174 23 63-10, 90–120 cm, 57 cm packed and Powerlock 3.0. The 2027 Trekbook article 174 23 71-10 keeps the range and packed measurement, lists 222 g rather than the U.S. page's 223 g, and names Powerlock Hybrid. The older page's copy conflict means its grip composition should not be used as a shortcut for the new article. This is why two catalog years with the same model display name receive separate records here.

Within the 2027 pair, the standard model is the alternative only when reach beyond 120 cm is necessary and the added 8 cm of listed length is acceptable. The Compact's shorter storage measurement can be useful on paper, but its current U.S. product number is not established. Conversely, a buyer who requires a confirmed retail page should consult the separately reviewed current U.S. product record, while checking the exact mechanism and package rather than assuming it is the 2027 article.

A catalog assessment is not a seller check

The Komperdell 2027 Trekbook is the primary evidence for article 174 23 71-10. No directly matched current U.S. product page was located. The finder compares its catalog specifications but does not establish that an independent seller has it, its stock, the box contents, snow-basket inclusion or an exact warranty route. On the fixed BuyerShortlists assessment page, verify the article number and Powerlock Hybrid against the actual listing before treating it as the 2027 configuration.

Before relying on a listing, compare the article number on the seller's item with 174 23 71-10 and ask for the exact contents and version. If the seller provides only the old K1742363-10-Tele number, that identifies a different documented article and Powerlock 3.0 page. This assessment is based on published primary sources only; it does not claim that a pole was handled, measured, ridden with or tested.
