Fizan COMPACT TECH 4 — Article 100-477 (Water Green / Light Blue labels) review

Archived international manufacturer reference: four-section 7001 aluminum, 51 cm closed and 130 cm open, with a black EVA grip. The maker’s same live route later changed to a different article and specification; no U.S. seller identity is confirmed.

A useful fit for

As a historical design reference, this configuration may interest someone comparing a four-section telescoping pole with a 51 cm closed length, a 130 cm maker-listed upper setting and a black EVA grip. It is not a verified U.S. purchase candidate.

The main tradeoff

Its archived four-section layout closes 8 cm shorter than the separately documented three-section COMPACT TECH models, but its historical stated maximum is 2 cm lower. The 169 g basis, lower working limit, exact lock and current relationship to Article 100-011 remain unknown.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does historical Article 100-477 reach a required 135 cm setting?

No: the archived Article 100-477 page and Summer 2026 catalogue list 130 cm maximum. The live route later changed to a different Article 100-011 at 125 cm; neither value is a verified U.S. offer.

Will its listed closed length fit a compartment with only 50 cm of clear space?

No. The archived page lists 51 cm closed, already longer than 50 cm. Check usable interior clearance; the figure is not the pole’s working minimum.

Are snow baskets confirmed as included?

No. Fizan lists 35 mm and 50 mm baskets but does not designate either as a snow basket. Diameter alone is not evidence of snow-specific equipment.

Is the archived black handle a cork or cork-mix grip?

No. The exact archived page describes black EVA. The beige Article 100-478 separately uses EVA imitation-cork wording, which is not proof of actual cork content.

Scope of this assessment. This is a source-based reference to the Fizan COMPACT TECH 4 with historical manufacturer article 100-477, not a claim about a current U.S. offer. The dated manufacturer collection card called it “COMPACT 4 water green”; the archived product page and Summer 2026 catalogue called Article 100-477 “COMPACT TECH 4 light blue” / “COMPACT 4 TECH Light blue.” Those labels are preserved rather than silently normalized. The maker’s same product-page route had changed by November 3, 2026: it then showed COMPACT 4 water green, Article 100-011, with a 125 cm maximum. That later page is not evidence that the older Article 100-477 has become 100-011 or that their specs can be exchanged.

What Article 100-477 documents

The archived exact page describes a four-section pole made from 7001 aluminum, with tube diameters of 17, 16, 14, and 12 mm. It states 51 cm when closed and 130 cm when open. This supports a compact closed reference and a manufacturer-listed upper setting, but not a usable minimum working length: 51 cm is the closed dimension, not an instruction to hike with the pole at that length. The sources do not provide a lower adjustment limit, a strap-adjustment procedure, or a stated lock name. The four-section telescoping arrangement can be described from the sections and closed/open information; a particular joint or locking-performance claim cannot.

The archived text identifies a black EVA handle, a polyester strap, a hard-metal tip, two supplied baskets of 35 and 50 mm, and protective tip caps. It does not identify either basket as a snow basket, name the hard-metal alloy more precisely, or establish an integrated shock system. “169 grams” is a manufacturer-published figure, but the page and catalogue do not say whether it is per pole, for a pair, or under another weighing convention. It should not be used as a per-pole comparison. The product image shows two poles, but it does not establish the package quantity.

Fit and storage: the useful trade

For a hiker considering this archived configuration, its clearest documented appeal is the combination of four adjustable sections and a 51 cm closed length. Compared with the separately documented three-section COMPACT TECH articles 100-469/100-470, the four-section article is listed 8 cm shorter when closed, while its old published maximum is 2 cm lower (130 rather than 132 cm). That is a specific storage-versus-reach difference, not proof that either design is more stable, durable, or comfortable. If a packed compartment needs less than 51 cm of clear length, the listed closed measurement is already too long; if the requirement is for a certain walking height, check the true minimum/maximum rather than treating the collapsed figure as the minimum working setting.

Four sections may be convenient when the manufacturer’s claimed pack-down length is relevant, but this archived page does not provide the folded segment lengths, a carry-case dimension, or a test of how the joints behave under load. It is not a Z-folding pole: the evidence describes a multi-section telescoping pole and a closed overall length, not corded folding. Do not infer that it packs like a shorter folding pole from the “compact” name.

Grip and ground-contact details

Article 100-477 is the black EVA-grip version in the archived page. That gives a material label, not a result for sweat, wet traction, glove use, or hand comfort. It is meaningfully distinct from the beige Article 100-478 version, whose old manufacturer description calls its handle EVA with an imitation-cork finish; see the separate Article 100-478 assessment. Both article numbers should remain visible because grip wording is one of the actual differences, even though their documented pole geometry and named accessories are otherwise alike.

The two basket diameters and protective caps are useful package questions to verify, but neither text calls the baskets “snow baskets.” A 50 mm diameter alone does not establish a snow-specific basket or winter performance. If a snow basket is essential, this archived page is insufficient evidence. Likewise, a hard-metal tip and protective cap are not a promise about replacement availability or compatibility with every aftermarket basket.

Version and buying limits

The archived Article 100-477 record is not linked to a verified U.S. retailer selector or package. The current live Fizan page at its old route now presents a different article number and upper setting, and the same official image file is reused there. That reused image is useful for identifying the water-green/light-blue appearance, not a way to establish that the later 100-011 and archived 100-477 are interchangeable. No seller barcode, pair quantity, current availability, or U.S. SKU is assigned here. The model is therefore kept as a non-buying international reference and is excluded from the U.S. finder.

In practical terms, this source record may help someone compare a documented 51 cm closed, 130 cm maximum, four-section 7001-aluminum design with a foam-grip version. It is not enough to choose a current offer without checking its exact article, package and specifications. In particular, do not rely on the old 130 cm figure for the live 100-011 page, or the live 125 cm figure for this archived 100-477 assessment. No hands-on test, measurement or ownership is claimed.
